A Song for Reflection - O Creation of God/O factura Dei

AS ABOVE
SO BELOW

The reflection of Heaven in Earth and Earth as Heaven has long been considered by mystics. Here are some thoughts, accompanied by a song, O Creation of God/O Factura Dei, composed by St. Hildegard of Bingen in the 11th century. We are each the Heavenly angel of God here on Earth, ministering to each other. I celebrate those women who have come before me with their poetic words from long ago.

a song of reflection
O Factura Dei - O Creation of God
based on the poetry of St. Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179),
music by Norma Gentile

O creation of God which is human,
in the greatest of sacredness you were brought forth
when in humility, sacred divinity penetrated the heavens.

O what great compassion
allows divine brilliance in earthly mire
So that those angels ministering with God
might see God in humanity.

"The day of my spiritual awakening
was the day I saw
and knew I saw
All Things in God
and
God in All Things"
-Mechthild of Magdeburg (c1207-c1282)

"When we know Heaven and Earth as reflections of each other, we cease to desire to shape either to our personal will. Rather, a space deep inside our heart knows itself as the weaver of both worlds. There is no fixing, no accommodating. There is what fits. Love fits."
-from Mary, through Norma
